Matt Troja has worked as a freelance producer, mixer, engineer, programmer, arranger, songwriter, composer, and performing musician since 1999, and has recorded and mixed for a wide variety of Gold and Platinum selling artists, Grammy winners and nominees, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. His work has been heard in film, television, and major national advertising campaigns. After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production and Engineering (’99), he moved to New Orleans where he worked at the legendary Piety Street Recording with producer Mark Bingham (R.E.M., John Scofield) and mixed live sound at the House of Blues in the French Quarter. His next stop was Los Angeles, where he worked at such historic studios as Cherokee and Interscope. In 2004 he was brought to Nashville by producer/songwriter Monty Powell, who’s written numerous #1 hits by Keith Urban and many others, to be his engineer. Matt spent the next decade recording many of the world’s greatest session musicians and a “who’s who” of top Nashville recording artists. As a musician, he has performed onstage in such intimate venues as Nashville’s famous Bluebird Cafe, as well as in front of tens of thousands of festival goers.
In 2014, he temporarily relocated to Cleveland, OH with his wife and two kids, and for six years took pride in contributing to the growth of the vibrant Cleveland music scene. In 2021, Matt and his family relocated back to TN, where he has enthusiastically rejoined the Nashville record making community.
